Molinaro vows to veto health care
Jul 26, 2018 2:23 pm
David Lombardo reports at Capitol Confidential that the Republican candidate for governor, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, vowed July 25 to veto legislation setting up a state-run health insurance system. Democrats hold the Assembly and may take the Senate in November, which would mean a health insurance bill could be passed. Molinaro is marking a clear difference in himself, and Democrats Andrew Cuomo, the incumbent, and Cynthia Nixon, who would both likely sign a health care bill. "New York taxpayers can’t afford a $90 billion annual tax increase,” Molinaro said in a statement. “New Yorkers deserve the highest quality of care, greater choice, more competition and lower costs.... Mr. Cuomo called the New York Health Act ‘a very exciting possibility’ last year, but that’s not an answer. He needs to let New Yorkers know now whether he’s in favor of a state government takeover of healthcare or not.” Read the full story at Capitol Confidential.
