Mountain bike event canceled
Feb 26, 2016 12:03 am
The warm winter has wrecked havoc on the local ski industry and canceled all sorts of events. The Round Top Mountain Bike Association's "Fat Fest" this weekend at Riedlbauer's Resort is the latest casualty. "Folks we are sorry to say that due to the current inclement weather, and forecasted warm temperatures this coming weekend, we will be canceling the RTMBA Fat Fest. Hundreds of volunteer hours have been put into maintaining our trails; warm conditions, standing water, mud and a bunch of fat-tire bikes would do more harm than good at this point," organizers wrote on the event's Facebook page. As of Feb. 22, Albany has the least amount of snow in a meteorological winter (Dec. 1-Feb. 29), according to the National Weather Service.
