Molinaro campaign running low on funds

Oct 09, 2018 10:00 am
Ken Lovett is reporting for the Daily News Republican gubernatorial candidate Marcus Molinaro's campaign coffers are nearly empty, with just $211,000 left in the bank. That amount is roughly $9 million less than incumbent, Democrat Andrew Cuomo reportedly has on hand, and $1 million less than Rob Astorino, the governor's previous GOP challenger, reported having at the same point in the 2014 race. And Molinaro's $211,000 total does not include the $45,000 loan the campaign must repay his running mate, lieutenant governor candidate Julie Killian. Though required by law, the outstanding loan was not reported in Molinaro’s latest filing. A campaign source confirmed the sum is still outstanding and that the finance team is amending its state filing to include it. Although Molinaro took in just under $450,000 since July, he spent $1.125 million during the same period. Cuomo’s four challengers, Molinaro, Green Party candidate Mark Green, Libertarian Party candidate Larry Sharpe, and former Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner, the Serve America Movement candidate, have a combined total of $321,558 on hand.
