Emilia Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper on the details of the December 14, Chatham Village Board meeting. Mayor John Howe and Village Attorney Ken Dow announced they will look into the contract between the village and the company Black Dot for leased space for an AT&T cell tower on village property. The company pays approximately $38,000 a year, according to Village Clerk Debra Meyers. Howe said the company has asked that the payment be reduced by half. The mayor said the board would look into the contract, as well as the options for the village. During the police report, Deputy Chief Joe Alessi said police are ticketing cars for overnight parking on some streets in the village. The board also appointed Crystal Cooliage as a part-time officer in the department and also accepted letters of resignation from Kevin Goold and Emmitt Callahan. Stephen Piazza discussed the possibility of having the large village clock examined. Piazza has been working on maintaining the clock, housed in the tower of a building on Main Street, for the village. Howe said it is unclear who owned the tower, and he was going to talk to the owner of the building. “We need to figure out who owns what,” the mayor said.
