Police investigate human skull found in Coxsackie

Emily Masters is reporting in the Times Union a search for clues was conducted in a strip of state forest located along the Hudson River, Mon., Feb. 27, the day after a hiker found what was believed to be a human skull. Greene County Sheriff's Lt. Adam Brainard said investigators have not yet confirmed if the object is a human skull, how long it had been there or how it got there. The object will be turned over to the state police forensics investigative unit for testing. Brainard said the remains of people who perished after jumping from Albany and Troy bridges have washed up in this area of Greene County before. State police said the investigation is in the preliminary stages and they are looking for any and all leads, including reports of missing people.
