Carly Miller is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media the town of Hunter is preparing for two upcoming annual music festivals this month. Police and ambulance staff spend months preparing for the Taste of Country and Mountain Jam festivals that draw thousands of tourists to the mountaintop every June. Taste of Country will kickoff June 8, and run through the 10th at Hunter Mountain. The Taste of Country lineup this year includes headliners Eric Church, LeAnn Rimes, Florida Georgia Line and Sam Hunt. That festival is followed by Mountain Jam over Father's Day weekend, June 15 to 17. This year, security checks will be stricter for attendees, with restrictions on bag sizes and multiple pockets, Daniel Kenney, Hunter Mountain communications manager. said. Law enforcement mainly respond to fights and minor offenses, but officers prepare for larger incidents, Lt. Adam Brainard with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office said. “There are a couple people who have voiced concerns over traffic and noise issues, but since this is a long-running pair of events, we have a lot of the kinks worked out,” Brainard said. The mountain operates a first aid center, and ambulances provide hospital transportation for injuries, drug incidents and other hospital needs. The town of Hunter supplies 24-hour ambulance service and staff for both festivals, contracting with the towns of Catskill and Windham. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
