Valatie resident one of five Jefferson medalists

Azra Haqqie is reporting in the Times Union is reporting Anne Fahy Curtin of Valatie is one of five Capital Region residents that have advanced to the medalist level for the Jefferson Awards. The award honors public service in communities across the country. Curtin and her colleagues will be honored at an event in Albany, Thurs., Apr. 24. Curtin has cared for victims of domestic abuse and their families since her retirement six years ago as a lawyer for the state. She founded the organization Healing a Woman's Soul and launched the "Who is Your 1 in 4" campaign to raise awareness that one in four people is affected by domestic violence. The other four finalists are Alice Green of Albany, Zilpa Oduor of Albany, Mary O'Keefe of Niskayuna and Kevin Shephard of Greenwich. One of the five will be selected to represent the Capital Region at the national level. Read the full story in the Times Union.
