Vaping devices qualify for drug takeback events

David Robinson is reporting for LoHud [dot] com New Yorkers can now dispose of vaping devices and cartridges as part of prescription drug takeback events statewide. Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the addition for the first time of electronic cigarettes and other similar devices to the events scheduled to be held October 26. Vaping-related illnesses have sickened nearly 150 people in New York, killing one teenager. "As the alarming outbreak of vaping-related illnesses continues to rage across the country, we are taking every step possible to combat this crisis,” Cuomo said. “I urge New Yorkers to take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of vaping devices as well as unused prescription medication that could endanger you and members of your family," he added. Local takeback sites are located at the Cairo, Coxsackie and Windham Police departments, and Greene County Sheriff's Office, the Hudson Police Department and the Columbia County Sheriff's main office and Hillsdale sub-station.
