State police add more holiday patrols
Jul 01, 2019 12:33 am
The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that New York State Police issued nearly 10,500 vehicle and traffic tickets and made 216 DWI arrests a year ago during the Fourth of July holiday. Still, there were four fatalities and 244 injuries from 165 crashes around July 4 last year. This year, state police began another period of an increased public profile June 29, with extra sobriety checkpoints and more patrols, with both marked and unmarked vehicles, through July 5. A press release from Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office says police will, “crack down on drunk and drugged driving and other traffic infractions.” Read more about this story in the Poughkeepsie Journal.
