State lawmakers swipe back in to Albany

Casey Seiler reports in the Albany Times-Union that legislators returned to Albany Jan. 5 for the latest session, and the halt to stop corruption is in effect. Now, for lawmakers to collect their $172 per diem for food, lodging and incidentals, they must swipe a card proving they are, indeed, in Albany. In the past year, leaders from both parties, of the Assembly and State Senate, have been indicted on corruption charges. In addition, former Assemblymembers William Boyland Jr. and William Scarborough, received federal convictions for filing numerous bogus travel vouchers. Read the full story in the Albany Times-Union.
