Maloney throws hat into the ring for AG

Mid-Hudson News Network is reporting Cold Spring Democrat, U.S. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney has indicated his interest in becoming New York's next attorney general, according to a list released by the state Legislature. A legislative committee will interview the applicants May 15 and 16, before the full legislature chooses a replacement for Eric Schneiderman. Democrat Schneiderman resigned May 7, after publication of a report that he physically abused four women. Maloney, a three-term congressman, is a candidate for re-election in November. He would have to step aside if appointed attorney general. Maloney represents the 18th Congressional District, comprised of Orange and Putnam counties, and parts Dutchess and Westchester counties.
