SAFE Act opponents declare victory

Rick Karlin is reporting at Capitol Confidential on the day following the general election, opponents of the SAFE Act gun control law pointed to several upstate GOP Senate victories as proof that unhappiness with the law remains strong. One group pointed to the races in the 41st, 46th 55th Senate Districts where Republicans Sue Serino, George Amedore and Richard Funke defeated Terry Gipsen, Cecilia Tkaczyk and Ted O’Brien respectively. In fact, it is not totally clear how much the SAFE Act actually played a part in voters' choices, although Amedore, who was on Fred Dicker’s Talk 1300 radio show Wed., Nov. 5, said he believes the law was a major factor in his victory.
