New York sends hurricane help

WTEN in Albany reports that personnel from several local fire and rescue agencies in Coxsackie and Greenport are being deployed to assist recovery efforts from Hurricane Irma in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Personnel from the Coxsackie Hose Company #3 and Greenport Fire Department are part of the New York National Guard Gov. Andrew Cuomo said left Sept. 7 for the U.S. Virgin Islands. The first responders and equipment going are for structural collapse rescue, excavation emergencies, technical rope rescues, confined space rescues, and other specialized rescues. As both Atlantic hurricanes, Irma and Jose, turn north this weekend, there is a chance that either or both could eventually impact the Hudson Valley and the Catskills.
