Drought conditions begin in our area

Jul 13, 2012 12:09 am
WHUC (1230-AM) reported Cairo firefighters and forest rangers fought a fire in the woods near Bailey Road on Wed., July 11, and Freehold firefighters put out a brush fire along Rt. 32 the same day. Clearly, it has been hot this summer, and has not rained much lately. The National Weather Service reports "abnormally dry" conditions in our area, and little rain in the immediate forecast. Susan Scheck, a Hillsdale-based master gardener for Cornell Cooperative Extension offered some tips for gardens facing the drought conditions on the "WGXC Afternoon Show" Thu., July 12.
