Governor Andrew M. Cuomo on March 1, announced $43.6 million in New NY Broadband Program Round III grants to various municipalities in the Capital Region, including towns in Greene and Columbia counties. Lexington, Catskill and Cairo topped the local list, with awards in excess of $1 million each. According to a statement released by Cuomo's office, the grants will drive more than $71 million of public-private broadband investment and provide nearly 20,000 homes and other locations in the region with access to high-speed internet.
