Bill Mahoney in Politico.com fact-checks the claims being made by opponents and proponents of a constitutional convention in New York. On Nov. 7, voters will choose whether or not to hold a convention that could rewrite major law in New York. "Is a convention being pushed by Albany insiders?" Mahoney writes that this claim is false, as of New York’s 16 political leaders -- legislative leaders, statewide elected officials, and the heads of the state’s largest political parties -- only Assembly Republican leader Brian Kolb supports the convention proposition. "Will a convention be dominated by legislators?" More people who are non-legislators, would be delegates at the convention, Mahoney writes, although there would be many legislators included. There would be three delegates selected from each of the 63 Senate districts and 15 elected at-large in the state as a whole. "Which party would control a convention?"
