Village elections will take place on March 18, and in preparation for those contests, caucuses were recently held in Catskill and Ravena. On January 27, the Catskill Democrats unanimously chose incumbent Joe Kozloski as the Democratic nominee for trustee, according to Margaret Tomlinson, Catskill Town Chair of the Greene County Democratic Committee. In an email announcement, Tomlinson touted Kozloski's work to improve the village water supply and its aging infrastructure. Kozloski has been a volunteer fireman for 50 years, and currently serves as head of the Local Development Corp. Kate Lisa is reporting for The Ravena News-Herald Democrats chose three candidates at a January 22 caucus to fill two open seats on the Ravena Village Board and for town justice. Incumbent Trustee Nancy Warner and political newcomer Joe Ganley were chosen to run for the village board. Warner worked as the village deputy-clerk treasurer for 25 years. She has served as a village trustee since 2012 and is seeking her third, four-year term. Ganley has lived in Ravena for eight years. He works as a special assistant to the executive chamber in Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office and serves as the secretary of the Ravena Planning and Zoning Board of Appeals. Incumbent Ravena Village Justice Harold Warner III was nominated to run for his fourth consecutive term. Village elections are Wed., March 18. The state moved the election this year to a Wednesday because the St. Patrick’s Day holiday falls on Tue., March 17.
