Larry Tune from Turner Construction said the costs are estimated to be around $24 million, roughly 1 percent over budget. The project, which includes major upgrades at the high school and middle school buildings, is still in the design phase. The designs will be sent to the state Education Department for review in early December and bids for construction will be issued in April. Melissa Renkawitz, a representative from CSArch, the project designers, said the state review should take around 10 weeks. In December 2018, district residents approved spending a total of $27 million, which encompass the cost of design, construction and incidentals. The plan includes work on the art, math, science and technology wings of the high school, as well as upgrades to the guidance offices, and the addition of a technology wing. Renovation of the middle school building includes the addition of more than 700 bleacher seats to the gym as well as the image of the ghost of Ichabod Crane riding along the side of the roof.
