Independence Day festivities continue

Fourth of July celebrations this weekend:

In Durham, a parade will begin at 11 a.m. Sat., July 6, and travel down Main Street, (state Route 145) ending at the Michael J. Quill Irish Cultural and Sports Centre where refreshments will be served. Congressman Chris Gibson (R-Kinderhook) will attend. Live entertainment will be provided by the Good Ole Boys and trophies will be awarded to parade participants. Fireworks will be launched at dusk.

In Tannersville a street party with vendors and live music will begin at 1 p.m., Sat., July 6, followed by a parade at 3 p.m. Congressman Chris Gibson (R-Kinderhook) will attend. A concert featuring jazz trumpeter Etienne Charles will begin at 4 p.m. at the Orpheum Performing Arts Center.

In Poughkeepsie, Pete Seeger, are holding a Peace Vigil Memorial at the Rt. 9/9D intersection in Poughkeepsie from noon to 2 p.m., and fireworks and other activities are planned elsewhere in the town later in the day.
