Volunteers, Air National Guard sent to help with Harvey relief effort

The Daily Freeman is reporting 11 American Red Cross volunteers from communities in eastern New York were sent to Texas Sun., Aug. 27, to aid in the Hurricane Harvey relief effort. The volunteers from communities in 24 New York counties have joined others from all over the country, to provide safe shelter and comfort to hundreds of thousands of people impacted by Harvey, the Red Cross said. Rick Karlin is reporting in the Times Union Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo this weekend sent more than 100 New York Air National Guard personnel as well as aircraft and vessels to Texas and Louisiana to assist with the rescue and recovery efforts. Emergency personnel and equipment from the Guard's 106th Rescue wing were deployed from Long Island to Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas.
