Ariel Zangla reports in the Daily Freeman the Greene County Legislature, Wed., Jan. 16, agreed to divest itself of two properties acquired through foreclosure. The former Villa Maria resort on state Route 23A will be sold to the town of Hunter for $63,000, plus the current year's taxes. The town intends to clean up the property and market it for sale. County Administrator Shaun Groden said there is potential to turn it back into a resort. The Legislature also agreed to sell the site of the former Cedar Terrace Resort on Main St. in Cairo to Steve and Julie Freemann for $115,000. The Freemanns said they plan to open a retail shop, create retirement rental units for people 55 and older and a bed-and-breakfast in several of the existing motel units.
