Woman accused of stealing from Catskill village court

Columbia-Greene Media is reporting a Catskill village court clerk has been accused of embezzling money from the court, according to Catskill police. Anastasia Salerno, 29, of Maple Crest, was arrested October 12, and charged with tampering with public records, and falsifying business records, both felonies. She was also charged with misdemeanor petty larceny, according to a statement from Catskill police. Police received reports of missing money from the village of Catskill court in July, and the charges filed last week were the result of a long investigation police said. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending. Salerno was arraigned by village of Athens Justice Constance Pazin and released on her own recognizance.
