The Catskill Community Orchestra under the direction of David E. Woodin will give its second performance of the 2009 season on Saturday, May 16 at 7 p.m., at Union Mills at 361 Main Street in Catskill, New York. Admission is free and donations are gratefully accepted. The program will include two baroque works of Georg Philipp Telemann, the Viola Concerto in G and the Triple Concerto in E major (53E1) re-scored for flute, oboe and violin. Musical director David Woodin, a graduate of Williams College, holds a B.A. in music and studied violin under Julius Hegyi, violinist and former conductor of the Albany and Berkshire Symphonies. Soloist for the evening are orchestra members Wendy Fieser, viola, Emi Olsson, violin, Ken Muller, oboe and Margo Byron, flute.
The Catskill Community Orchestra was formed in 2008 and members include professional and amateur adult and student musicians from Greene and Columbia counties. Admission receipts and donations help support the orchestra’s activities. A reception and refreshments will follow.
This event is made possible with public funds from the Decentralization Program of the NYS Council on the Arts, administered in Greene County by the Greene County Council on the Arts through the Twin Counties Cultural Fund.
