Diane Pineiro-Zucker is reporting for the Daily Freeman the suspect in the strangulation death of a man at Greene Correctional Facility in November is someone already incarcerated at the facility, Greene County District Attorney Joseph Stanzione said Feb. 19. Delmus R. Tanner Jr., 38, died due to "strangulation by another" person at the medium-security state prison, according to a death certificate provided to the paper by Tanner’s ex-wife. She said Tanner was being held in solitary confinement at the time of his death. State corrections officials have not confirmed that detail. State police have declined to provide any additional information about what they have described as an "open investigation" in the case. Stanzione said the case will be presented to a Greene County grand jury within four weeks. The DA did not identify the suspect. Tanner's death is one of two at the Greene Correctional Facility in Coxsackie currently under investigation. Anthony Myrie, 24, died suddenly Feb. 11, of what is being described as a sudden cardiac arrest several hours after an alleged incident involving other men at the facility. Stanzione said he is awaiting an autopsy report from the Albany County Coroner’s Office before determining how to proceed in the Myrie case. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
