State collecting worn-out U.S. flags

The Times Union is reporting the state is collecting worn and tattered American flags through Thu., May 25. "This year, across New York, we are offering drop-off locations statewide to ensure that old, worn American flags can be retired with respect and honor," Cuomo said. The collected flags will be disposed of as part of the Memorial Watchfire hosted by the Vietnam Veterans of America at the state fairgrounds in Syracuse, on Sun., May 28. Collection sites are at state buildings located in Albany, Schenectady, Syracuse, Utica, Oneonta, Watertown, Poughkeepsie, Hornell, Binghamton and Buffalo. Read the full story in the Times Union.
