Greenville Town Board hears noise complaints

Jamie L. Carlson-Garland is reporting in The Daily Mail the Greenville Town Board is the most recent Greene County municipality to be confronted by concerns over mass gatherings or noise. An outdoor concert held Sept. 8 at the Greenville Drive-In drew complaints from residents, saying the event was extremely loud and profane. Drive-in owner Jim Gatehouse appeared at a recent meeting of the Town Board and apologized. “This will never happen again. The movies are not making any money and that’s why I did it,” he said. Gatehouse indicated he is actively looking for alternative ways to raise revenue. The drive-in reopened this summer after being shuttered for more than a decade. Town officials indicated they will take a look into laws currently in place in other communities governing noise and large events. The Town of Athens is presently considering the implementation of a noise ordinance. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
