July 4th holiday schedules, events

Communities throughout the region will celebrate the holiday with parades, fireworks and other activities during the coming days:
Albany: New York State’s Fourth of July Celebration, Empire State Plaza, Eagle Street and Madison Avenue, Albany. 3 p.m., Sat., Jul. 4. The holiday celebration features live music from Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes, food, activities and the area’s largest fireworks display.
Cairo: will roll out its July 4th Bed Race at 4 p.m. Sat., Jul. 4 in the Angelo Canna Town Park, where costumed teams of five people compete for the title of best wacky themed bed. Fireworks at dusk.
Clermont: A celebration will be held 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sat., Jul. 4, at Clermont State Historic Site on state Route 9G. Festivities include 18th century crafts, re-enactors, music and hot food. The Saugerties fireworks, across the Hudson River, can be viewed from the lawn.
Durham: The parade will step off at 11 a.m. Sat., Jul. 4, and travel down Main Street (state Route 145) from Golden Hill Road to the Michael J. Quill Irish Cultural and Sports Centre. Fireworks will be at dusk.
Ellenville: Events begin at 9:30 a.m. Sat., Jul. 4, with food and arts and crafts in the village square. A parade steps off at noon. Fireworks will be at 9:30 p.m. at the Joseph Y. Resnick Airport.
Germantown: Gates open at 4 p.m. Sat., Jul. 4, at Palatine Park for a celebration that will feature games, activities, a petting zoo and more. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.
Kinderhook: Fourth of July People’s Parade, Village Square, 6 Hudson St., 11 a.m., Sat., Jul. 4. Decorate your car, stroller, wagon, garden tractor, bike — anything you can push, pull or ride with American pride. Parade steps off at the park on Rothermel Lane and ends in the Village Square.
Saugerties: A parade will step off at 11 a.m. Sat., Jul. 4, from Saugerties High School and wind through the village, ending at the Cantine Field. Fireworks will be held at dusk. Rep. Chris Gibson will be at the parade.
Tannersville: All-day celebration. A parade will step off from the car wash on Main Street at noon, Sat., Jul. 4, and travel to the Village Hall and firehouse. Refreshments will be provided at the firehouse. Additionally, there will be music and craft vendors on Main Street all afternoon. Rep. Chris Gibson will march in the parade.
Windham: A parade through town will begin at 7 p.m. Sat., Jul. 4, and be followed by a barbecue and music at the base lodge at the Windham Mountain ski center. Fireworks will begin about 9 p.m. Rep. Chris Gibson will march in the parade.
