Prattsville considers winter recreation park
Jan 15, 2016 12:03 am
Michael Ryan reports about the public hearing for a planned winter recreation park in Prattsville and Lexington. The proposed Bear Pen Mountain Sports Facility would be a snow-tubing park with cross-country skiing, ice-skating, tobogganing, and sledding on Route 2, a hilly and winding rural road. “I’ve heard that some people are afraid this will become another Hunter Mountain,” property owner and developer Howard Rennell said. “This is a very modest project, open only on weekends. It is kind of a dream of mine for a semi-retirement, second career.” The Department of Environment Protection and Department of Environmental Conservation still need to approve the project before the planning board can vote on it. If approved, the Bear Pen Mountain Sports Facility would open next winter. Read the full story in the Windham Journal.
