Cuomo proposes early voting for New York

The Albany Times Union reports that early voting is the latest policy Gov. Andrew Cuomo will announce in his "State of the State" speech Jan. 3, Cuomo's press team announced Dec. 21. Voting would begin 12 days before election day, under the proposal. New York is one of thirteen states that do not have early voting currently. "Counties must have one early voting poll site for every 50,000 residents and the bipartisan County Boards of Elections will determine the specific location of early voting polling places, subject to standards of accessibility and convenience," a statement from Cuomo's office said.
