Volunteers sought for statewide park clean-up day

Apr 30, 2018 12:15 pm

The Times Union is reporting volunteers will turn out to cleanup, beautify and improve New York's parks, historic sites and public lands next weekend. The first Saturday in May is designated, "I Love My Park Day." For the seventh year, projects are being organized by Parks and Trails New York. More than 125 sites are hosting events on May 5, including the Olana State Historic Site, where volunteers will be enlisted to help remove invasive Japanese Barberry from the areas along the carriage roads. There will also be a litter patrol, leaves to rake and windows to wash at Cosy Cottage and the Wagon House. At Taconic State Park -- Copake Falls, volunteers will clean out the kiddie pool, fluff mulch in the playground or sweep off the campground platforms. At North/South Lake Campground in Haines Falls, participants will clean up campsites, plant trees, and put out picnic tables. Detailed information is available at the Parks and Trails New York website. Read the full story in the Times Union.
