Unemployment rates decline statewide, locally

The Daily Freeman is reporting unemployment rates in New York were lower in April 2015 than a year earlier, the state Department of Labor reported Wed., May 27. Columbia County had the second-lowest unemployment rate in the state last month at 4.1 percent, down from 4.5 percent in April 2014. The only county with a lower jobless rate in April was Tompkins (the Ithaca area). In Greene County the unemployment rate reported was 6.1 percent, down from 6.8 percent in 2014.
