Kate Lisa is reporting for Columbia-Greene Media Hudson Brewing was charged and had its liquor license suspended after reopening its tasting room illegally and allowing dozens of customers to gather in defiance of the state's NY On Pause order. The company was charged with several violations May 28, including failure to comply with executive orders, as well as a failure to supervise the licensed premises, according to a statement issued by the authority. State investigators discovered 27 people drinking in and near Hudson Brewing on May 22 during a surprise, undercover visit to the local farm brewery. Some patrons were near the entrance while others tailgated. The authority alleges its investigators entered the brewery and were served alcoholic beverages in unsealed plastic cups without food and customers were allowed to linger or congregate in and around the building, both in violation of authority and state guidelines. The emergency suspension was ordered by Chairman Vincent Bradley, Commissioner Lily Fan and Commissioner Greeley Ford at a special meeting of the full board May 29. Board members did not have confidence Hudson Brewing would follow the NY On Pause order going forward. “Despite prior warnings, this licensee continued to defy the governor’s executive order and flout every guideline the SLA has put in place to keep people safe,” Bradley said. Prior to the SLA action, Hudson Brewing was put on notice by city officials of the company's noncompliance after the city received numerous complaints. The authority's decision is not final. Hudson Brewing is entitled to an expedited administrative law hearing before an administrative law judge. Read the full story at HudsonValley360 [dot] com.
