Marchione does not want hearings about Hoosick Falls water

Jun 10, 2016 12:01 pm
Time-Warner Cable reports Sen. Kathy Marchione, (R-Halfmoon), who represents Rensselaer County, does not want to hold hearings about poisoned water in towns she represents. “Once it was classified at the state level, we couldn’t have moved any faster,” Marchione said of the drinking water contaminated with PFOAs in Hooskick Falls. Assemblymember Steve McLaughlin, who represents the area in the other legislative branch, held a Twitter war June 8 about the lack of hearings. “Apparently, we’re the leader in not telling people that their water is tainted, because that is what went on here. It’s a cover-up,” McLaughlin said. Marchione, who does not want hearings, did say, “We need to figure out what we’ve got in our water.... We need to go forward and try to get it out of the water, because people’s health is of the utmost importance.” The article did not say what, exactly, Marchione recommends to help the water crisis in her area.
