The Columbia County KISS Program will once again be available to seniors in participating municipalities countywide beginning November 30, through December 11, according to a press release from Columbia County Clerk Holly Tanner. The Keeping Identities of Seniors Safe program was established by Tanner in 2013, to protect the identities of older residents while helping them to dispose of sensitive, personal materials such as old credit card receipts, bank statements, and tax records. KISS is free of charge and available quarterly. All 18 towns in the county as well as the city of Hudson participate. Seniors are asked to bring the materials they wish to dispose of to their local town hall where they are placed in a locked 64-gallon container. The container is then kept secure until Certified Document Security transports it to the company's New Lebanon facility for shredding.
