Emilia Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper the Ichabod Crane Board of Education July 28, got an update from CSArch and Turner Construction on the district's $27 million capital project. Construction is already under way on Phase 1, with work on the roof replacement in the 100 wing of the high school set to be completed by the end of the summer and repairs already made on the roof above the high school auditorium. In September work will start on the connector road between the middle school and the primary school. CSArch representative Dan Woodside, said Phase 2 of the project is now in the design development phase. Phase 2 includes major work at the high school and middle school buildings, including an addition on the technology wing in the high school and upgrades to all three of the classroom groups in the middle school as well as work to raise the middle school gym roof. Woodside said all work is expected to be completed by 2022. Not all the work can be done over the summer when students are out, and Woodside said it will take some work to figure out how to manage that with staff and students in the mix. Larry Tune, from Turner Construction, was present to discuss the cost of project, and said they were currently about 2 percent over the estimated costs. Woodside the gap between actual costs and the estimates will likely close. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
