HDC adds Colarusso to board

Sarah Trafton for Columbia-Greene Media reports that the Hudson Development Corporation appointed Paul Colarusso, who owns Colarusso Contracting Company, to its board, among other changes March 26. The city of Hudson filed a lawsuit Aug. 25, 2017, against A. Colarusso & Son Inc. and the town of Greenport, about the company’s proposed haul road between Greenport and the Hudson dock via the South Bay and Route 9. A month later the company filed a countersuit against Hudson and the Hudson Planning Board about the scope of its review of the company’s completed dock project. Both lawsuits were dismissed in January. “You’re a controversial figure in Hudson,” board member Steve Dunn said to Colarusso. “You have a pending application before the planning board and potential legal issues will come up. How do you feel about that and will you cope with that? If there is any appearance of a conflict of interest, would you recuse yourself?” Yes, Colarusso said he would recuse himself on the matter. “We thought we should tap a good resource that Hudson has,” board member Christine Jones said, adding that Colarusso is a fourth-generation company. “He can help us deal with infrastructure problems that Hudson has.” Jones, and treasurer Don Moore, were leaving the board, and the board voted by secret ballot March 26 to add Colarusso, Seth Rogovoy, Martha Lane, and Paul Barrett.
