The grant was one of four given statewide, and will amount to $36,000 in total to HBRW, with the organization matching it with $12,000. The Alliance is a stream protection organization for the Kinderhook and Claverack creeks, that feed into the Stockport Creek. Funds will go to pay for stream watch training, which will be key as part of ongoing studies, as well as clean-up activities. The Stockport Creek Watershed is the second largest tributary watershed to the tidal Hudson River. Its streams flow through parts of Columbia and Rensselaer Counties in Eastern New York, and Berkshire County in Western Massachusetts before entering the Hudson River at Stockport, in Columbia County. It includes parts of the towns of Stockport, Greenport, Claverack, Hudson, Canaan, Ancram, Austerlitz, Copake, New Baltimore and Ghent.
