Hudson Housing Authority to lease space for cell towers

Jun 24, 2019 2:15 pm
Jeanette Wolfberg is reporting for The Columbia Paper the Hudson Housing Authority will lease space on the roof of Bliss Towers, for the purpose of installing cell towers. Alan Weaver, chairman of the HHA Board of Commissioners, confirmed that the housing authority would receive money for hosting the cell towers. The city Planning Board has determined the building can bear the weight of those towers. Hudson resident Carole Osterink was in attendance at the June 12 HHA board meeting and spoke, asserting that the city Planning Board is concerned that Bliss tenants worried about radiation from the cell towers will “descend en masse” on the planned public hearing. Weaver responded, pointing out that there are cell towers on the hospital. “As I understand it, all Housing and Urban Development high rises in the country either have cell phone towers or are under contract to get them,” added Tim Mattice, executive director of the HHA. Few of the building's tenants were in attendance at the HHA board meeting and none said anything about the cell towers, Wolfberg writes. Read the full story in The Columbia Paper.
