National vaccine distribution increases as local counties cross 30 percent with at least a dose

Mar 24, 2021 3:13 pm
Austin Landis reports for Spectrum News that 27 million COVID-19 vaccine doses will be distributed across the country next week, according to U.S. health officials. That means the average of 2.5 million people getting a shot per day, will increase to almost four million per day. So far, 70 percent of Americans over 65 years old have gotten at least one dose of vaccine, and now states are opening up vaccinations to younger people. New York this week made anyone 50 and older eligible for inoculation. President Joe Biden has ordered states to open vaccines to anyone 16 and older by May 1. Currently, 26.5 percent of adults in Greene County have received at least one dose of the vaccine. In Columbia County, the number is 30.4 percent as of March 24. Albany County leads locally at 34.2 percent, Rensselaer County is at 29.7 percent, Ulster County has reached 30 percent, and Dutchess County is at 27.2 percent, according to the state COVID-19 webtracker page.
