Former DPW foreman pleads 'guilty'

Lisa D. Connell writes in the current edition of the Chatham Courier that former Chatham Village Department of Public Works foreman Chris Sperl pleaded guilty Wed., Feb. 8, to one count of official misconduct, a misdemeanor. Sperl was arrested last month and charged with one felony and three misdemeanors following the alleged theft of diesel fuel using the village's account at Main Care Fuel Company. Sperl, 45, was a village DPW employee for 23 years. He was represented by Hudson attorney Michael Howard. As a result of the guilty plea, Sperl paid $400 in restitution and a $500 fine.
