Bishop drops out of primary election

May 11, 2016 12:06 am
Matthew Hamilton in Capitol Confidential reports that Delaware County Republican Bob Bishop ended his campaign to replace Rep. Chris Gibson in the 19th Congressional District, and threw his support to John Faso. Andrew Heaney is also running in the Republican primary, and the Will Yandik and Zephyr Teachout are running in the Democratic primary. “The time has come for the Republican Party to unite behind our strongest candidates if we are going to reclaim our country for our next generation,” Bishop said in a statement. “Part of being a leader is recognizing when another individual is the best person suited for a position. John Faso has shown us that he has what it takes to best represent our interests. Not only does John have the endorsement of four parties critical to winning in November, he also possess the skills and passion needed to win this race. It is time for all Republicans and Conservatives to unite behind John Faso in order to continue Congressman Gibson’s strong legacy while making sure this seat does not fall into the hands of a radical liberal like Zephyr Teachout.” Read the full story in Capitol Confidential.
