Claverack stops streaming all meetings

Jun 30, 2021 6:33 am

Aliya Schneider reports in Columbia-Greene Media that the Town of Claverack is ending remote access to some of its town meetings. Town board workshop meetings, and zoning board meetings will no longer be streamed online for citizens who cannot attend the meetings in person. The monthly regular town board meeting and planning board meetings will continue to be streamed on Zoom. Town board members claimed there was not enough community interest to continue to make all the meetings available to the public. The public is now allowed to attend Claverack town meetings, but they may have a difficult time finding the meetings. The town's website said that the June 28 meeting was at two different locations. Claverack resident Ian Nitschke said he went to the wrong location because of the town website's incorrect listing. "I was quite confused about where the meeting was supposed to be because usually it's at the town offices on Church Street, and for some reason they held it at the Town Hall on Route 217," Nitschke said. He said he would prefer that the town of Claverack continue to have the meetings available live online. "I think it's much more convenient and you get a wider audience if it is streaming, in my opinion," he said. Read more about this story at HudsonValley360.com.
