Kinderhook looking at short-term rental law

Apr 03, 2019 1:30 pm
Parry Teasdale is reporting for The Columbia Paper Kinderhook Mayor Jim Dunham March 13, presented the village board with a proposed new zoning law covering short-term rentals. Village Code Enforcement Officer Glenn Smith previously requested the board review potential regulations on short-term rentals, after seeing several short-term rental opportunities in Kinderhook village listed at AirBnB [dot] com. “I don’t want to eliminate them, I just want them to be inspected,” he told the board back in January. Under the regulations Dunham presented to the board, a short-term rental is defined as a unit for let for a period of less than 30 days at a time. Dunham noted that under the proposed law, the property owner would have to obtain a special use permit. He said there are currently three spaces in the village listed as short-term rentals. Dunham said he will now pass the proposed zoning law on to the village attorney and planning board for review. Read the story in The Columbia Paper.
