Kyle Adams is reporting in The Daily Mail the village of Catskill's proposed budget calls for a $50,000 increase in spending during the coming year, and an increase in the tax levy of 1.2 percent. Catskill Village President Vincent Seeley said the village saw some notable savings this year by paying off debts, which helped offset costs. The $4.38 million budget includes funds for a new police car, but no raises for village trustees, who earn $5,000 a year. The spending plan also includes grant funds that will be used to rehabilitate Canal Street as an access to the planned Catskill Creek Walking Loop. As in past years, the largest increases projected were in the cost of workmen’s compensation insurance and health benefits. The budget will be presented to the public at an appropriations meeting, 7 p.m., Tues., May 13 in the Catskill High School auditorium. Read the full story in The Daily Mail.
