Greene County legislature holding long jail meeting Wednesday

May 29, 2018 12:55 pm
The Greene County Legislature is holding a meeting on the Greene County Jail issue, and they are calling it a "Coxsackie Jail Workshop." The meeting is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wed., May 30 in Room 468 at 411 Main St., Catskill, NY 12414. The 110-year-old jail on Bridge Street in Catskill was closed April 20 for safety reasons. In February, the state Commission of Correction ranked the Greene County Jail as one of the worst county jails in New York. The legislature is deciding between the costliest project in Greene County history at about $67 million including interest payments, or spending less money sharing a jail with Columbia County.
