Schneiderman has fossil fuel investments
Dec 26, 2017 1:31 pm
Chris Bragg reports in the Albany Times Union New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has been investigating whether ExxonMobil lied to its investors about whether climate change could harm the oil business. He has also called for a state "carbon tax." And Schneiderman, financial disclosures indicate, is also an investor in ExxonMobil. "This holding is a minute portion of a diverse portfolio managed exclusively by his outside financial adviser," said Schneiderman's spokeswoman, Amy Spitalnick. "The AG does not invest directly in any specific stocks and like any investor, has no say in the publicly listed companies that routinely move in and out of his mutual funds." The story also indicates that many of the legislators now calling for New York's divestment from fossil fuels, also have investments in fossil fuels. Read the full story in the Albany Times Union.
