National Grid wants Bethlehem substation
Feb 06, 2018 2:36 pm
Larry Rulison reports in the Albany Times Union that National Grid wants to put an electrical substation on Van Dyke Road near Bethlehem High School and Eagle Elementary. They will make a presentation at 6 p.m. Feb. 7 before the town's zoning board of appeals at town hall. Opposition from community groups and parents worried about electromagnetic fields and other issues blocked a similar proposal in 2015. National Grid says it needs more power for the now-empty Vista Technology Campus in Slingerlands. The company says if it builds this substation, it will dismantle two others, one off Adams Street and another at the Elm Avenue Park. Read the full story in the Albany Times Union.
