Saugerties Village Board meetings will stay at village hall

Nov 27, 2017 12:03 am

William J. Kemble is reporting in the Daily Freeman the Saugerties Village Board has rejected a request to move the board's twice-monthly meeting to accommodate public access television producers. At a meeting last week, board member Jeannine Mayer said the move would allow the sessions to be televised live. Saugerties' public access cable channel, Lighthouse TV23, is planning to update its media center in the senior citizens center, Mayer said. “It’s going to be like a regular three-camera shoot with really good audio,...and it could be a live stream,” she said. Village Board meetings have been inconsistently videotaped over the past year, with most recent sessions not recorded, Kemble writes. However, other board members said moving the village sessions would diminish the importance of village hall. “I don’t believe that’s a good idea,” Donald Hackett said. “If they’d like to come here, live stream, whatever they want to do, that’s fine with me, like the old days. But moving our meeting I don’t think would be beneficial,” he said. Read the full story in the Daily Freeman.
