Cuomo ends pandemic restrictions as state reaches 70 percent with at least one vaccine dose
Edward McKinley reports for the Times Union that 70 percent of New Yorkers have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. “This is a momentous day, and we deserve it because it has been a long, long road," Cuomo said. So the governor is now ending all state mandates — including capacity restrictions, health screenings, cleaning and disinfection protocols, and others. Cuomo did retain the state of emergency declaration to continue to manage COVID-19, and said that all individual businesses or local governments can keep restrictions in place if they choose. Locally, Greene and Columbia counties have not reached 70 percent with one dose of the vaccine. Greene County is currently at 51.2 percent, and Columbia County is at 58.3 percent, according to the state's vaccine tracker webpage. Read more about this story the Times Union.
