Durham owner accused of animal cruelty

Emily Masters is reporting for the Times Union a resident of Greene County has been charged with allegedly neglecting four horses, the state Department of Environmental Conservation said June 5. An Environmental Conservation Officer went to a Durham home last month, after receiving a tip that four horses were being neglected. He arrived to find two of the horses had "extremely long hooves," and one of the horses was unable to stand. After a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals investigator agreed that the condition of the horses was unacceptable, the unidentified horse owner was charged with two misdemeanor counts of failing to provide sustenance to horses.
